John Truby and Truby’s Writers Studio
John Truby is the founder and director of Truby’s Writers Studio. Over the past 35 years, he has taught more than 50,000 students worldwide, including screenwriters, TV writers, novelists, executives, creative directors, producers, directors, and more. Together, these creatives have generated more than $20 billion at the box office.
Truby has consulted and taught his Anatomy of Story Masterclass around the world, including Disney Studios, Globo in Brazil, Studio Canal in France, and HBO. He has been a story consultant and/or script doctor for Sony Pictures, Blue Man Group, Red Bull, Fox, HBO, AMC, and the BBC.
In addition to story consulting for studios, Truby conducts an ongoing workshop for writers who are creating new TV shows, movies, and novel series (including top fiction writers and novelists who have topped The New York Times’ Bestseller List, won numerous prestigious literary awards, and have sold over 46 million books worldwide).
Author of two bestselling books, The Anatomy of Story and The Anatomy of Genres: How Story Forms Explain the Way the World Works, Truby draws on a broad range of philosophy and mythology, offering hundreds of fresh, insightful, practical techniques alongside his revolutionary approach to building stories with intense narrative drive.
