MASTERPIECE: TECHNIQUES OF ADVANCED SCREENWRITING ONLINE CLASS
Why Not Go for the Best?
Now you too can master the techniques required for screenwriting at the highest level with the help of our Masterpiece: Techniques of Advanced Screenwriting Class.
Advanced screenwriting means creating contradictory and complex characters, inventing your own story structures, tracking the most twisted moral arcs, and expressing the big themes without preaching.
The Advanced Screenwriting Online Class is filled with the most detailed professional techniques needed to write a truly great script.
This online class takes you step-by-step through the storytelling process, from one-line idea to final script, so that you can write an excellent work of fiction. In each of the lessons, you will first study the material and then complete the appropriate writing exercise.
Send your written responses to the exercises to firstname.lastname@example.org for comprehensive feedback. Then proceed to the next lesson. John Truby has designed the lessons in the order that will produce your best work in the shortest amount of time. However, you are free to take the lessons in any order you wish.
The Masterpiece Lessons:
Lesson 1 – Explore and develop your premise. List the main theme of your story.
Lesson 2 – Create a detailed social system in a particular social stage, including the cultural stage and the rules of the system.
Lesson 3 – Start with the frame – the endpoint of the story – then go back to the beginning (the hero’s desire and need.)
Lesson 4 – Describe the key story beats for your masterpiece.
Lesson 5 – Using your main theme as your guide, create an advanced story structure that will best express that theme and connect the events of the story.
Lesson 6 – If you wish to update an old myth story to a modern dramatic form, add those unique beats to your story structure.
Lesson 7 – Determine the symbols for your hero and other characters.
Lesson 8 – Write the story. Be sure to draw out the deeper thematic patterns dramatically for your audience.
